Microdat, the Leeds based specialist in brewery plant and control systems, is restructuring operations in order to take advantage of the increasing opportunities in the Real Ale sector and to provide enhanced customer service capabilities to its growing customer base.

The Company is concentrating all operations into the Leeds site.

As a consequence of this reorganisation, Microdat will be closing the satellite office in Shrewsbury. Matthew Hadwen and Mark Roberts are joining T Musk Engineering Ltd, a company with which Microdat works closely in the provision of bespoke vessels and pipework. We wish them both well and look forward to working on current and future projects together, as the skill sets in Microdat and Musk are complimentary.

Stephen Midgley, Managing Director, will retain responsibility for business development and marketing. Kirsty Midgley will become Marketing Manager on a full time basis and report directly to Stephen.

Andy Humphrey remains Sales Director with enhanced responsibilities for the Small Products division which provides equipment to microbreweries around the country.

Howard Smith remains Financial Controller and Company Secretary and will be supported in due course by a part time Finance Director.

Four new departments are to be created within the Company, comprising of Technical Support, Production, Installation and Customer Support. Responsibility for each department will be as a result of internal promotions and new recruits as detailed below.

  • David Midgley becomes Technical Director broadening his previous role to include all aspects of technical support and control of design activities.
  • Andrew Edwards, who joined the Company in 2011 as Production Manager, takes responsibility for all production activities.
  • The position of an Installation Manager is currently being recruited and the selected individual will take responsibility for the successful installation and commissioning of major projects onsite at Customer’s premises.
  • Wayne Kavanagh will shortly take up his position as Customer Support Manager. Wayne previously worked for Tranter and Coca-Cola Schweppes.
