Johnson Matthey Catalyst Pellet Processing

The new special purpose machine to handle catalyst pellets has been accepted after extensive works trials at Microdat’s factory in Leeds. This new machine handles warped and deformed incalloy trays into which catalyst pellets are loaded to a set weight. The trays are warped and deformed due to the very high temperatures used to process the catalyst pellets, for Microdat it is similar work to handling bent and deformed beer barrels and then weighing their contents. This new machines uses Univer pneumatics, Beckhoff controls and a Lenze drive along with many standard Microdat parts. The new machine will be installed and trialled by Johnson Matthey prior to ordering a further two more machines.
