Breaking News - 1 July 2009
Microdat the Leeds based food and beverage manufacture is pleased to announce that as of today Stephen Midgley of Microdat and Alastair Sims of Gimson has concluded a deal to allow Microdat to take over the business of Gimson Limited and Chadburn.
The former Gimson premises at Leicester will be closed in July as the business is merged into the high tech manufacturing facility at Leeds. Alastair Sims will eventually retire from food and beverage but will work with Microdat for the next year to ensure that current projects and the business are transferred smoothly. Alastair will then concentrate on other business interests based in Leicester.
Jack Glover the ex Porter Lancastrian and Chadburn Chief design engineer will join the Leeds team to transfer the vast industry knowledge to the design engineers based at Microdat.
Whilst it is sad to see the demise of another independent food and beverage supplier it is also exciting to be able to merge the two companies together to deliver a UK manufacture and food and beverage specialist which can compete with the best in the world.
The take over has delivered to Microdat its first export order ie a drum washing machine it also takes Microdat directly into the kegging business as Gimson and Chadburn have installed keg washer rackers both within the UK and abroad.
Gimson Customer Support Spares & Service
A key feature of the deal struck has been to enhance the service to Gimson and Chadburn customers in the latter years Alastair and Jack have found it difficult to provide the full support and services required by their customers. The new deal will enable Microdat to absorb the extra support and service work for both Gimson and Chadburn plants, enabling Microdat to improve and enhance our support and service team. Alastair and Jack are both keen to transfer their knowledge and skills to Microdat personnel, and since we now own the Gimson and Chadburn drawings, designs and PLC control source code, we can now offer the brewery, food and beverage industry a much improved service for all Microdat, Gimson and Chadburn plant and machinery.
We will also continue to support former APV keg plant customers via Andy Humphrey who has installed most of the UK’s APV kegging facilities and Tuskers plant which was merge into Microdat 10 years ago.
As from the 1st July 2009 you can contact Microdat at Leeds for any enquiries on new and existing Gimson & Chadburn plant and machines in the full knowledge that we have the back up and technical support to meet our existing and the newly transferred potential customers full needs 24 hours a day if necessary.
