Award winning Moorhouse's Premium Bitter
Moorhouse’s Premier Bitter was awarded the Gold Medal for Champion Bitter and the Silver Medal for Supreme Champions at the annual SIBA National Beer Competition 2008 held in York. Moorhouse’s Managing Director, David Grant says, “I am delighted that Premier Bitter has been awarded the Gold medal in category and even more please to discover Premier was voted the Silver award overall, this reflects the consistent excellent quality of all the beers brewed at Moorhouses and is a credit to the team.”
Moorhouse’s was founded in 1865 in Burnley but it wasn’t until 2007 that they turned to Microdat for the top class Cask Racker to increase racking of their award-winning brew without compromising the quality. The Microdat Racker’s gentle pumping technology ensures the beer is delivered to the firkin within 30 seconds without shearing and fobbing
Traditionally the racking process uses C02 or sterile compressed air to place a blanket over the beer to prevent gas breakout, but the Microdat Racker’s smart electronics and specially designed back pressure valve does away with this costly and environmentally unfriendly method.
Microdat’s Managing Director, Steve Midgley says “We believe the new racking system prevents damage to the Beer allowing Moorhouse’s customer to enjoy the award winning taste of Premier Bitter.”
The Microdat Racker was also delivered with a specially designed inline blending process and Finings and Primings injection system.
Grant is full of praise for the Microdat Cask Racker, “the racker gives an even greater consistency to our beers as it measures everything racked into cask, the racker has increased the speed to which we can rack from 30 casks to 100 casks per hour and has thus saved the company money, the service offered by Microdat has been very good.”
