Microdat requires an electrical design drafts person-engineer-trainee to produce schematic control designs for bespoke and varied automated machines and production plants mainly for the brewing industry. The machines are generally PLC-PC controlled with HMI’s, SCADA over heads which control various machine functions such as inverter drives, motion controllers, pneumatics, sensor’s, transducers etc Plants often include 415V power distribution, 110v and 24v control circuits and safety circuits. Our plants also extensively use various bus control systems such as CAN, Profibus, Control Net and Ethernet.
Having developed the control schematic the EDE will then be responsible for panel layout designs and the general layout and installation design for the field devices etc.
We currently used a 2D drafting package with electrical design enhancements called Fast Cad Electrical however we are considering a new package for the future. We also design all our new machines in 3D Solid Works and are developing our electrical design work to include 3D modelling of panels and the installation of electrical field devices and machine wiring ducts etc Having produced the various schematics and layouts the EDE will then be required to select components and produce the electrical install BOM. And all installation cables schedules and cable makers etc.
Experience and a good technical education is essential, additional training will also be provided. Supervision of panel construction, testing and machine building and testing would also be an advantage.
Salary negotiable dependant upon experience and qualifications ranging from £18 to 32K.

Did anyone see the article in the Daily Mail on the 1st of April 2008 by Matthew Hickley? 'Hospitals See Huge Rise In Drink-Related Admission' - well I say this article is debatable! (no offense to the Daily Mail or to Matthew Hickley!)
The article infers that the longer drinking hours in pubs is responsible for youth binge drinking - RUBBISH!! The real story is that pubs don't sell to kids! The supermarkets do though - in fact they can now sell alcoholic drinks all the hours of the day and night - 7 days a week - they are also selling and advertising less than cost booze to these kids with little or no regards to who they are selling it to.
Oh I know there is a law about selling alcohol to under 18's but half of the kids look older than there young ages, the other half know someone who is 18 and can buy it for them and what's the bet they only every get asked for ID every now and then anway.
Real pubs sell real ale - binge drinking is about alco-pops and cheep thrills on the street corner. It takes time to make real beer - if you drink in the great English establishment that is the local pub you appreciate your pint - you don't BINGE.
Tighter laws for Supermarkets will see these Drink-Related accidents lessen not shortened drinking hours at your local. What do you think?

I'm very pleased with the installation and success of the machine on start up. The big thing for me is that I have yet to receive one complaint / suggestion from the teams on how we could have improved the installation (now that's saying something!!).
